This week is a tough one for the housemates mainly for three reasons: one, they have to survive without a weekly budget; two, smokers in the house are grappling with bad mood as a result of cigarette deprivation and three, five of them are nominated for eviction this Saturday! But last night even for less than an hour, they got more than just a respite from their difficulties and anxieties but received one of the best surprises from Big Brother as no less than the Star for All Seasons, Mayor Vilma Santos, paid them a visit!
As shown in the live telecast last night of Pinoy Big Brother, the esteemed mayor from Lipa City warmly greeted the housemates by their names, wined and dined with them, chatted with them, gave them a Christmas gift and even danced the PBB theme song with them as she showed once again her dancing prowess!
It was indeed a wonderful night for the housemates- truly one of the most unforgettable moments inside Kuya’s house. The good mayor did not only charm the housemates, she left them in great awe. Seconds after they bid her goodbye and saw her to the front door, the housemates let out an excited shriek and even jumped for joy!
At the dining table, they continued to talk about Mayor Vi and marveled at how kind, gracious, down to earth and warm she was! It was not only her mere presence that got the housemates so overwhelmed but also the fact that she knows all of them and is familiar with the happenings and dynamics of their relationships inside the house, being an avowed PBB viewer herself.
“I used to watch her. Now she watches us! She knows stuff about us!” , gushed kikay Say to Uma. Cass was equally delighted as she shared to her housemates: ““ Talagang nanonood siya kasi pati steps (ng PBB dance), alam niya!”
The usually unperturbed Nene also got overwhelmed by the whole Mayor Vi experience as she said in a message addressed to Mayor Vi: ““Di ako makapaniwala na kumain kayo sa parehong hapag kainan na aming kinakainan!”
Mayor Vi’s proud kababayan, Jason, expressed his admiration as he said: “ Ang bait niya, no!” Jason’s best friend Franzen whom Mayor Vi greeted with ‘How are you, pasaway?’, could not agree more with his kakosa as he himself declared: “ Walang kiyeme, pare!”
Close to midnight, the housemates were still cherishing the momentous visit of Mayor Vi as they shared their excitement and joy to Big Brother in their individual sessions in the confession room.
“Di ako makapaniwala nakasama namin siya. Idolo sya ng mama ko, yung paghanga ko, namana ko sa mama ko”, enthused Cass. The Davaoena who was also the lucky recipient of Mayor Vi’s hanky also shared the lesson she learned from her close encounter with one of local showbiz’s biggest and most luminous stars: “ Natutunan ko po iyung pagpapakumbaba po, makikita mo ang sinseridad niya, totoong tao po siya."
Jason admitted that he was flattered when Mayor Vi fondly referred to him as kabayan and said that he found the whole experience very heart warming. "Nakaka-inspire po. ( Aral po sa akin) iyung pinangaral niya na ginagawa namin dito, sabi nya na may mga bagay kaming nagagawa na kinatutuwa niya. “
First time nominees Jenny and Say also drew inspiration from their close encounter with Mayor Vi. “ Napaka-brave niya, gusto ko maging ganoon din ako katapang maging sa eviction man”, said Jenny. “ Sinabi niya just keep it up (magagandang ginagawa) and natutunan ko sa kanya not to give up. Sabi rin niya we should continue to treat each other as family!”, shared Say.
First, it was King of Comedy, Dolphy, who paid the housemates a surpise visit in the dead of the night. Last night came a startling but pleasant- and welcome- up close and personal meeting with Mayor Vi. The housemates sure are getting lucky- and for all we know may even continue with their lucky streak as Big Brother might just fancy bringing in more members from showbiz royalty no less to greet and meet them!
The housemates themselves are not beyond giving subtle hints to Big Brother. After Mayor Vi's visit, Cass mentioned Movie Queen Susan Roces-Poe and Megastar Sharon Cuneta as her other dream guests. For Uma, of course, it can only be Queen of Talk, Kris Aquino.
