Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe might land on a new, different role soon, as he is in negotiations to play in Kenneth Branagh's version of “Equus” by Peter Shaffer, according to the Daily Mail.
It is said that Kenneth Branagh will direct the play in the West End around January 2007; that is in 13 months time.
But Dan's representative has denied such rumors,
declaring that the young actor's plans are to shoot “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” in 2006, and to focus on A levels during the 2007 summer.
If he were to be a part of Kenneth Branagh's project, Daniel would play a 17-year-old boy who blinds horses and appears to find them sexually arousing. (sexually aroused by horses????) now, that’s interesting…
According to “The Guardian”, “the plot involves the hero reaching the height of sexual ecstasy while riding a horse.”
With such a part, Radcliffe is in no position to fear being type-cast.
But the Harry Potter producers might still have a word on whether Dan will be allowed to accept it or not.
