A coupla weeks ago we brought you his video for Bunny Jump, the lead single in his upcoming album Addiction. The responses were impressive and conclusively pointing towards one thing: The Fans Want More!
After physically fighting the gremlins that fucked with everything (Skype, 3G Signal, Batteries, You Name It!) about this interview, the planets finally alligned and we had a chat with rising star Awgust Rush. It was quite a dope chat as he opened up his world for you, his fans out there. Hit the jump for the full interview
THE G SPOT: Lets start with your full name for the fans out there
Awgust Rush: Awgust Taylor
THE G SPOT: You recently relocated from the states, hows the transition been?
Awgust Rush: its been hella fresh. the hip hop culture is here as well, like its some cool cats everywhere. But i wont sugar coat it, lil bit of racism here and there, but whatever some are just like that.
THE G SPOT: but im sure the love has outshined the hate?
Awgust Rush: most definitely! Everywhere i go they showing me love, Jozi, CPT, and of course Durbz so i aint never trippin!
THE G SPOT: On your trips around the country you must be exposed to a lot of women, who gets your vote as the city with the flyest honies?
THE G SPOT: as a rap artist you must dig that hip hop swagga, so i'd say you swaying towards GP?
Awgust Rush: lol maybe yo!
THE G SPOT: any plans to move up to GP or is it Durbz all the way?
Awgust Rush: For now its Durbz but funny you asked that because I woke up this morning thinking about looking for a place out there, i may be there real soon
THE G SPOT: Durbz is bringing heat musicaly with a lot of cats like Zakwe, Big Nuz and others, how do you feel about the music scene there?
Awgust Rush: Most definitely we showing flames out here. I know a lot of talented individuals, i got some of the best musicians in Durban and KZN featured on my album
THE G SPOT: what can we expect from the album?
Awgust Rush: what you didn't haha, but its something for everybody on the real. aint no bubblegum machines this side
THE G SPOT: as long as there aint no autotune... what influences did you have in making this album?
Awgust Rush: by influences you mean artists? ummm, i don't know because for the longest i went through a spell where i was just listening to myself, you know i had to study me to find my weaknesses and eliminate them.
THE G SPOT: self analysis is always good, generaly though who are your influences musicaly?
Awgust Rush: Everybody doing it. Im with DJ Cleo, good music is good music at the end of the day it really does not matter who it comes from. But yo im a big Kanye fan.
THE G SPOT: u heard 'Mercy' that dropped last week?
that track is pure G.O.O.D Music fire!
Awgust Rush: i been in studio sun up to sun down, then i got to get it in with my night life so i haven't heard it yet. I wil be on that when we done lol
THE G SPOT: Kanye is one of the most talented producers globaly, with you being a producer as well, how do you feel about the direction that production has taken in Hip Hop?
Awgust Rush: I think it's great. Now there are no rules and anything goes if it is creatively good. Soulja Boy may be to blame for that lol
THE G SPOT: i got beef with that nigga. he eventually never told them -_-

THE G SPOT: you've worked with a number of artist in South Africa, who's been the biggest challenge to work with?
Awgust Rush: Everybody been the same, and we've came out with a banger every time. DA L.E.S, Ferdy Ferd, and Ishmail are my G's though, it was a pleasure working with them nikkas
THE G SPOT: they've been making a lot of good music and the fan love is showing it.
Awgust Rush: Yea, they have!
THE G SPOT: speaking of fans, whats your craziest fan story?
Awgust Rush: lol, so far this one dude kissed my hand and bowed while i was performing and then stalked me on facebook lol NOYOUKNOW

Awgust Rush: A DUDE HAHAHAHA! i was like wtf?!?
THE G SPOT: thats fucked up! how did that situation play out?
Awgust Rush: lol, tell me bout it. I guess he really loved the music, maybe he was living what i was at the time. Eventually i told em whats up but in a cool way. Like I can't be shitting on the folks that make me. me, ya dig
THE G SPOT: understandably so, but there's been good fan experiences as well, yeah?
Awgust Rush: Yea for sure, i love the love they show. Girls are the best! I have given away my Caps, Towels, Shirt haha
THE G SPOT: when is the album dropping?
Awgust Rush: End of May, it goes so hard. Addiction is the title of the Album, you know we all got those!
THE G SPOT: Yeah, some we admit some we dont
Awgust Rush: Exactly, True
THE G SPOT: In which cities can the fans expect launch parties?
Awgust Rush: JHB, CPT, and DBN
THE G SPOT: is the album cover art out yet?
Awgust Rush: nope, it's done though
THE G SPOT: can The G Spot premiere it when its available? Just so the fans can have something to hold them over until the release of the album
Awgust Rush: Most Def, it that aint nothing but a G-Thang lol

Awgust Rush: If you was hoping so, do not disappoint yourself with that thought, lol, You can expect quality though, whatever the situation throw it on and relax, i feel you.
