Mom Suing Justin Bieber for Damaging Her Ear

Stacey Betts, a mom from Wilsonville, Oregon, reportedly sues Justin Bieber for $9.2 million after she claimed that the teen heartthrob's loud music and screaming fans at concert severely damaged her ear.

In the suit filed in U.S. District Court in Oregon on Tuesday, July 10, Betts said she took her daughter to Bieber's July 14, 2010 concert at the Rose Quarter in Portland, Oregon when she suffered severe hearing loss, tinnitus and hyperacusis – which is abnormally acute hearing — in both ears after the sounds during the said show exceeded safe decibel levels.

The courts papers claim the injury occurred when Bieber climbed into a heart-shaped gondola that pulled him over the crowd.

The complaint states: “Mr. Bieber created a wave like effect of screaming by pointing into various sections of the arena. Then enticed the crowd into a frenzy of screams by continuously waving his arms in a quick and upward motion, whereas I was struck with a sound blast.”

“Due to their negligance (sic) and my subsequent inability to protect myself, my quality of life has been permanently reduced in addition to the injury.”

The suit names Bieber, along with his record company, Island Def Jam Records; the concert promoter, AEG Worldwide; and the venue owner, Vulcan Sports Entertainment. Bieber and the co-defendants were “negligent” in failing to provide safe decibel levels, Betts’ complaint says.

Singer Taylor Swift edged out teen heart-throb Justin Bieber as the highest-earning celebrity under 30, taking in $57 million, as women dominated the top spots on a list released by Forbes.com on Thursday.

Bieber, who brought in an estimated $55 million, was the only male among the top five earners, who included Rihanna at No. 3 with $53 million, followed by Lady Gaga and Katy Perry.

"We are seeing a convergence of these talented women who know how to work the system," said Dorothy Pomerantz, the Los Angeles bureau chief for Forbes.

"The things they have in common, obviously they write great hits, are strong personalities. That really helps them from a publicity point of view. They connect with their fans," she added.

Kristen Stewart, who was the highest paid actress last year with an estimated $34.5 million in earnings, captured the No. 7 spot and was the only actress in the top 10.

Stewart, a lead player in the "The Twilight Saga" films, also had a hit with "Snow White and the Huntsman" and is considered one of Hollywood's up-and-coming stars.

Her co-star in the "Twilight" films and real-life boyfriend, Robert Pattinson, came in at No. 10 with earnings of $26.5 million.

"'Twilight' has done wonderful things for these kids' bank accounts," said Pomerantz, adding that they are now making $12 million per film in the franchise. "What will be telling is how they do post-'Twilight.'"

To compile the list Forbes analyzed album and concert sales, movies earnings, profit participation, advertising work and endorsements between May 2011 and May 2012. Managers, lawyers, agents and other insiders were also consulted.

Justin Bieber Knocks Himself Out, Suffers Concussion in Paris

Justin Bieber was knocked out cold after running into a wall of glass during a concert in Paris. reported celebrity news website TMZ.com.

The Biebs walked headlong into the wall just before his last number at a private performance in an undisclosed highrise in the city.

“It really hurt, and I felt light-headed, but my adrenaline pushed me through it” to finish the performance, Bieber told TMZ.

He was able to perform his last song before going backstage and passing out for 15 seconds.

French doctors told Bieber that he had suffered a concussion, and should take it easy and keep someone nearby as he recovered, according toNewser.

The singer posted on Twitter that he was doing well, joking about the incident and saying “gotta laugh at yourself sometimes.”

This week seems to be not the best for the Biebs. The singer is under investigation for possible assault in a recent confrontation with a photographer.

The ‘Boyfriend’ singer reportedly became lost his control after being swarmed by paparazzi after he left a movie theatre with girlfriend Selena Gomez at the weekend.

The teen singer reacted in anger, some kind of physical confrontation took place and a photographer was taken to the hospital after complaining of upper torso pain.

After being released from a local hospital, the photographer, whose name wasn’t revealed, later filed a report in which he named Bieber as the suspect in what the police are treating as a misdemeanor battery.

However, the story is not finished yet. As some reports say, police have decided to refer the case to prosecutors and the star could face up to six months in jail.

A witness of the incident told reporters his own point of what happened: the photographer was blocking Bieber’s car; the singer asked him to move; and a scuffle did ensue when the “journalist” refused to do so.

In addition to all this, earlier this week, several fans were injured in a girl-crush at a free Bieber concert in Norway.

Justin Bieber performed a free, six-song concert at the Oslo Opera House on Wednesday that is planned to be featured on his upcoming one-hour NBC television special to be aired next month, writes Reuters.

The free concert in led to reports of dozens of young girls being injured. 49 girls reportedly were injured and 14 taken to hospitals, and police came close to declaring a state of emergency in the capital.

“For the show to happen u must all listen to the police. we are all concerned for your safety and i want what is best for u. please listen,” The 18-year-old singer posted to his 22 million Twitter followers on Wednesday.

The singer’s record label, Universal Music, said in a statement on Thursday that it “regrets strongly that some of those who were Justin concert had a bad experience.”

A label executive said “fortunately no one was seriously injured,” and added that Bieber wanted to return to Norway and perform a future concert there.

The incident in Oslo is not the first time Bieber fever has caused crowd control and safety issues. In November 2009, fans stampeded a shopping mall in Long Island, New York ahead of an appearance by the pop star, forcing organizers to cancel the event.

VIDEO: Justin Bieber celebrates 18th birthday on Ellen; surprises a superfan; announces new single and gets a super grand gift from his manager!

Justin Bieber turned 18 in a very special way -- by appearing on Ellen DeGeneres' talk show.

But it wasn't all about his birthday. The singer had wrote Feb. 28 on his Twitter account to his nearly 18 million followers that he had some big news to share: "i got something BIG to share with you and the world this week. thank u for everything! see u soon."

When asked by DeGeneres what the big announcement was, Bieber revealed information on his new single.

"My big announcement is that on March 26th, my first single is coming out and it's called 'Boyfriend,' " Bieber told the audience.

The reason for the name of the song, which he co-wrote with Mike Posner, was simple. "Basically I'm talking to this girl, if I was your boyfriend, I would never let you go," Bieber explained.

The most memorable moment of all came when manager Scooter Braun surprised Bieber with a birthday gift. After listing off Bieber's charitable ways, including meeting with a Make-a-Wish kid after every show for 86 dates during his tour, Braun showed off Bieber's new car: a new (and hard-to-get) Fisker Karma.

Not to be outdone, DeGeneres put her own spin on her gift to Bieber: sun shade with a heart over DeGeneres and Bieber, as well as a bobblehead.

Bieber's appearance on The Ellen Show airs Thursday.

Justin talks about wanting to be the next Michael Jackson, he will be turning 18 soon and he already survived a sex-scandal, dating Selena Gomez, what an achievement.
Below are some excerpts from the interview:
On being the next Michael Jackson:

Right now? I mean, I consider Michael Jackson the best. If I could be at his level… But I’ve got a lot of work to do. I’m not saying it’s going to happen within the next three years. But hopefully by the time I’m 30, people will remember me. I think people will remember me at this point, but I don’t want people to just think of me as a teen sensation. Because I could probably just sell out, and then in two years not put out another album, and just become Justin Bieber the teen superstar. But I don’t want to be that. I want to transition, and become the greatest.

On not going “crazy” like Michael did:

Michael had a really bad childhood. I was blessed with a great childhood. My mom loved me. My dad loved me. I’m now a teenager and I don’t feel like I’ve missed out on anything in my life. I’ve gotten to experience everything I possibly could. I don’t look back and think, Ugh, I wish I would have been able to do that. Maybe [Michael] missed out on a lot, so he tried to [re-live] his childhood when he was older. But I’ve got such good people around me, I’m not worried.

On turning 18 in March, and not being a “kid” anymore:

Here’s the thing: I think that I don’t need to try to do anything. There are people who try to grow up too fast—they’re 18, so they’re like, I’m not a kid anymore. People need to know I’m not a kid anymore. But at the end of the day, I’m not completely grown-up. I’m still learning. I’m going to grow up how I grow up. I’m not going to try to conform to what people want me to be or go out there and start partying, have people see me with alcohol. I want to do it at my own pace. But I’m never going to make myself so the kids and the parents don’t respect me. There’re some artists that [parents won’t] let their kids go and see because they think they’re a bad influence. I want to be able to do what Michael did—he always sang clean lyrics—and it was always that little kids loved Michael and grandparents loved Michael. I don’t want to start singing about things like sex, drugs, and swearing. I’m into love, and maybe I’ll get more into making love when I’m older. But I want to be someone who is respected by everybody. Because right now, the young people are who make society. Young people determine what’s cool. Young people determine what’s going to be in style. So I always stick with the young people, that’s what I say.

On how his fan base is predominantly women:

It’s all about making good music, and people hate me before they even listen to my music. I know a lot of people say they hate Justin Bieber who haven’t even listened to any of my music. They just hate me because they hate the idea of me. I’m young, I’m handsome—I don’t mean to sound conceited—but they think that I just got here because [of that], because I’m good-looking and girls like me, but the music isn’t there. Here’s the thing: my first album, I was 13 turning 14 when I recorded it, and I put it out when I was 14 or 15. It was my first time recording, and it turned out really well. We put it out, my fans loved it, but I was still really young. Then the second album came out, and I’d geared it mostly toward the fans. And I feel like the more I put out, people will realize it’s really good music, and they’re going to come. I’m not worried about the guy fans because they’re going to come. If they listen to the music and they like it, it doesn’t matter if they go and act like they don’t like me. They’re going to go home and listen to it.

On being spiritual vs. religious:

I don’t think I’m religious. I am spiritual. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins. I believe that he put me in this position, and that I have to always give him the glory he deserves for putting me here. But I don’t consider myself religious. A lot of people who are religious, I feel like they get lost. They go to church just to go to church. I am not trying to disrespect them at all, you know, whatever works for you; but for me, I focus more on praying and talking to Him. I don’t have to go to church. I haven’t been to church in a long time, but I know I have a relationship with Him. People can be like, “If you don’t go to church, what do you mean, how are you a Christian?” But I am. I talk to Him, and that’s all.
