The world’s most successful and iconic model search reality show is going to have a Pan-Asian English language version.

The “Next Top Model” franchise has been acquired by Singapore’s ice-TV network for the production of a pan-Asian English language version this 2012.

The project will see the imminent launch of an Asia wide online search for the freshest new faces to take their first steps onto the world’s modeling catwalk.

Finalists from around the Asia region will compete in the prime time reality series “Asia’s Next Top Model” where the winner will bring home a contract with a top global modeling agency aside from the cash prize.

The original concept–”America’s Next Top Model”–was created in 2003 and is still hosted by talk-show host and model Tyra Banks who also serves as the head judge and executive producer of the show. The show is currently airing its 17th cycle in the US with the 18th cycle set to debut in Spring. The success of the format has seen localized series being produced in over 20 markets including Australia, Brazil, Germany, Russia, New Zealand, Britain & Ireland, Italy, Greece, Mexico, Korean and Vietnam among others. The US version is licensed in over 100 markets around the world.

“The Biggest Game Show in the World Asia” is an entertaining television game show competition between South East Asian countries.

In season 1, teams from Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam compete against each other in spectacular games with obstacle courses, swimming pools, conveyor belts, bungee jumps, challenge walls and other visually exciting challenges.

To add even more visual excitement, the contestants dress up in wild and wacky costumes such as frogs, ostriches and kangaroos with hilarious results.

Each episode consists of 5 challenge games and the final challenge wall. The games have been created to be universally funny, challenging and spectacular.

“The Biggest Game Show in the World” came from France. The franchise for the Asian edition season 1 is acquired by four TV networks: RCTI for Indonesia, Kantana for Thailand, VTC9 for Vietnam and TV5 for the Philippines.

The Philippine coverage is hosted by Richard Gomez (field) and Joey de Leon (studio). The show was recently shot at a purpose built production hub in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Team Philippines is composed of various models and TV personalities including Joem dela Cruz, Alizon Andres, Hardy Donasco, Ronnie Hernando, Alan Jabeguero, Lucky Mercado, Janvier Daily, Patani Daño, and more!

‘The Amazing Race Philippines’ Soon on TV5 (Teaser)

Check out the teaser for the highly-anticipated Philippine edition of the Emmy Award-winning reality show “The Amazing Race.”

“The Amazing Race” is an Emmy Award-winning reality game show in which teams consisting of two people, who have some form of a preexisting personal relationship (brothers, sisters, friends, lovers, co-workers, etc.), race around the world in competition with other teams. Teams are progressively eliminated every episode (last pair to reach the pit stops) until three are left; at that point, the team that arrives first in the final leg is awarded the grand prize.

Liv Espino, the wife of late actor Tyron Perez, confirmed her husband committed suicide.

According to Espino she was talking on the phone with her husband when he shot himself.

 

"’Magpapakamatay na ako, magpapakamatay na ako,’ sabi niya. ‘Gusto mong marinig?’ Akala ko joke lang. Binaril niya ‘yung sarili niya. Parang, bam. Parang nahulog na malaking book, parang ganoon. Nahulog na ‘yung phone. Hello ako nang hello wala na." Liv narrated.

Espino also revealed that they were having a marital problem caused by Perez’s gambling problem. She even said that Perez moved out of their house a month ago.

Masaya ngayon ang actor-turned-politician na si Yul Servo dahil balik-trabaho siya. Kasama ngayon si Yul sa isang Metro Manila Film Fest entry at aniya, bukod pa rito ay may nakapila siyang acting project sa entablado. “Merong project ngayon sa Tanghalang Pilipino, [isang] stage play naman aarte uli ako sa stage play,” excited niyang sabi. Aniya, magandang pagkakataon ito para muling mahasa ang kanyang acting skill.

Natanong naman si Yul hinggil sa problemang pinagdaraanan ngayon ng kanyang kaibigang si Piolo Pascual. Aniya, umaasa siyang mareresolba ni Piolo ang problema niya with ex-girlfriend KC Concepcion. Nang tanungin siya kung ano ang reaksyon niya nang mabalitaan ang nangyari, ang na sagot ni Yul, “’Di naman natin alam ang [nangyari] eh, sa akin naman, basta ako kayang-kaya nilang dalawa ‘yan.” Kilala rin daw niya si KC dati pa at nababaitan at nagagandahan daw siya sa dalaga.

Sa isyu namang kinukuwestyon ang kasarian ni Piolo, naging prangka ang sagot ni Yul. “Dati na ‘yan eh.” Nang hingan ng mensahe para kay Piolo sa kanyang pinagdadaanan ngayon, anang actor-politician, “Mag-pray lang sila malagpasan nilang dalawa ‘yan.” Dagdag pa ni Yul ang ganitong pangyayari ay hindi maiiwasan at pinagdadaanan talaga ang ganito sa isang relasyon. Inamin din ni Yul na nang malaman niya ang balita ay kinumusta niya ang kaibigang aktor.

Matatandaang dati ay na-link din sina Piolo at Yul pero sa industriya raw ay hindi maiwasan ang mga ganoong pangyayari. “Eh hindi maiiwasang mabigyan ng [kulay] ng iba ‘yan eh. ‘Yun nga magkakaroon ka ng kaibigan, masama pa pala ‘pag ganon. Ganun pa man kayang-kaya niya [ang mga intriga na] ‘yan,” ang positive na sabi ni Yul.

Sa ngayon, bukod sa pagiging konsehal ng Maynila ay binibigyang pansin uli ni Yul ang kanyang pag-aartista at nagpapasalamat siya na may mga offers pa rin sa kanya. Natataon din na ang mga proyekto niya ay mga indie films na magaganda naman ang roles na ibinibigay sa kanya.

MMFF 2011 Awards Winners

The best of the best in th3 37th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) were recognized in the awards night held on December 28, 2011 at Resorts World Manila Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City.

The only action film entry in this year's MMFF "Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story" received most of the awards. As expected, Regal Entertainment's entry "Yesterday Today Tomorrow" wasn't able to get any of the four major awards (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, at Gatpuno Villegas Cultural Award) as it gets disqualified as decided by MMFF committee one day before the awards ceremony due to the producer's decision to change the pre-approved cast and storyline of the movie and it is against the rules of the festival.

GMA-7 Releases Public Statement on ABS-CBN's False Claims About its Civil Case Against AGB Nielsen, ABS-CBN Answers Back

This refers to the claim perpetually made by ABS-CBN in its ratings press releases regarding the case (docketed as No. Q-07-61665) filed against AGB Nielsen Philippines (AGB) in 2007.

Lifted below is a portion of ABS-CBN’s ratings press release that strongly aims to discredit AGB as a ratings service provider in the media industry.

“ABS-CBN shifted to Kantar Media/TNS after filing a case vs. AGB Nielsen Media Research for failing to comply with its request to investigate alleged cheating and data tampering in TV ratings. The case is still pending in court.”

This claim was verified to be untrue. The case filed by ABS-CBN against AGB was dismissed by Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Presiding Judge Charito Gonzales on January 7, 2008 for being prematurely filed. The Court likewise denied the Motion for Reconsideration filed by ABS-CBN in an Order dated June 8, 2009.

On January 5, 2010, Atty. Maila Doroteo Santos, Branch Clerk of the Quezon City RTC issued a Certificate of Finality, which confirms the Court’s Decision on the said case as final and executory.

ABS-CBN sought relief from the judgment earlier rendered by filing a Petition on ground that “it did not receive” a copy of the June 8, 2009 Order. RTC Judge Charito Gonzales found the Petition dismissible based on “both substantive and procedural grounds.”

In an Order dated October 27, 2010, Judge Gonzales said that “the ‘incoming pleadings’ document presented by the petitioner’s (ABS-CBN) counsel to prove that it did not receive a copy of the Order dated June 8, 2009, besides being self-serving, cannot be said to faithfully reflect all the pleadings received by petitioner’s counsel.” A return card attached to the records of the case evidenced that the Order was duly received by ABS-CBN’s counsel on June 23, 2009.

Hence, the Court stated that based on procedural ground, it cannot grant ABS-CBN relief from judgment under Rule 38 of the Revised Rules of Court as it was justly given the opportunity to file an appeal but it did not within the prescribed period.

Copies of the Certificate of Finality dated January 5, 2010, and the Orders dated October 27, 2010 and March 21, 2011 are hereby affixed for your further reference.

While ABS-CBN may have business reasons to cite the ratings data of Kantar Media in its ratings releases, we are hoping that you can give credence to the ruling of the Court, which renders the above mentioned civil case as closed/dismissed.

For the interest of your readers, who deserve only truthful information, we request that you reconsider the continued publication of the aforementioned quote lifted from the ABS-CBN releases.

KC Concepcion to Host "The X Factor Philippines"

The search is on for the Philippines' next singing superstar with KC Concepcion hosting the country's biggest and newest singing-reality show "The X Factor Philippines."

Starting January, KC will be visiting different cities like Cebu, Bacolod, Manila, Olongapo, and Batangas for the auditions. "We will start scouting for talented Filipinos who will join and compete to become the next singing superstar. So if you have the X factor or if you believe you have the X factor, then go to the auditions. I will see you there," said KC, who recently renewed her contract with ABS-CBN.

The X Factor Philippines, which will air in the second quarter of 2012, is a singing-reality search open to Filipinos, aged 13 and above, who may audition as solo, duet, or group. KC will be joined by four other judges or mentors in the program. Apart from the show, KC said she is also set to do a drama series, a movie, and join ASAP. She said it is difficult to resist opportunities that come her way and looks forward to her new projects. "I will end this year with a happy heart and start my year with a happy heart," she said.

First introduced in the UK, The X Factor has conquered more than 30 countries as of mid-2011 and produced more than 50 winners around the world, including Melanie Amaro who became the first season winner of The X Factor USA last week.

Sarah Geronimo, Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis–the three biggest money makers of Viva Entertainment–will join forces in a 2012 movie that is aimed to shatter existing box-office records.

Sarah Geronimo, Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis–Viva’s biggest stars–will play as siblings in the upcoming comedy with a working title “2 and 1/2 Sisters” (2 and a Half Sisters).
Dubbed as the movie event of 2012, “2 and a Half Sisters” is going to be helmed by Wenn Deramas, the director the record-breaking “Praybeyt Benjamin” and will most likely be another joint production of Viva Films and Star Cinema.
There are reports that the leading men of Sarah, Vice and Anne will be Gerald Anderson, Xian Lim and Jericho Rosales, respectively, but this is not yet confirmed.
